Welcome to the New Thunderstore
A new look, and what's coming next
Greetings,
Now is a great time to resurrect the News section since we have big visible news for you!
The new Thunderstore website is now the default at thunderstore.io. If you've been on the beta, thanks for sticking with it while we sanded off the rough edges. Plenty below will still be new to you. If you haven't, the new site is the one to use.
The old one is still around at old.thunderstore.io if something you need isn't working yet, and the "Switch to legacy" link in the header will take you there.
This article covers:
What's different
What happens to the old site
What we've been working on

What's different
This is Cyberstorm, the redesign we mentioned a while back. The communities list is the clearest place to see the difference. Back then we said the community selector wasn't great and that we'd change it with the new website, and this is that change.
Communities now have their own page by default, with sorting and badges for popular and recently added ones.

We also tidied up the numbers, since the old style likely caused migraines.
Only the one Thunderstore theme exists right now, though maybe some additional themes 🐈 could be available someday?
What happens to the old site
Feature-wise, the new site should already do everything you could do on the old one. Legacy is still up for two reasons: some things behind the scenes still run through it, and we want a fallback in place until we're certain nothing slipped through. If you find something that worked on legacy and doesn't work now, that's a bug rather than a missing feature, so please let us know.
We're aware of occasional 500 errors when browsing the site and we're looking into them. If this happens to you, a simple reload of the website should fix it.
What we've been working on
A lot of our time since launch has gone into fixing and polishing the new site. Alongside that, keeping the infrastructure healthy and improving it is work that never really stops.
Under the hood
Improved analytics, so we can show more statistics about the service
We're working on surfacing more of these stats to you as well
A lot of work modernizing our infrastructure for scalability and reliability. As an example, package listings appear in the mod manager noticeably faster
Fixed the upload page rejecting valid packages because of file names inside bundled dependencies
Thunderstore Mod Manager
Performance fixes across the mod manager
Fixed flicker from the game selection screen
Added a UX flow for mods that have been removed or delisted from Thunderstore
Other general fixes to the UI and UX
Some of the new communities!
What's next
With the new site in place, we've got more room to build on top of it. There's plenty going on under the hood too, so it won't be the only thing we're working on.
Right now we're working out what to prioritize, and the feedback and suggestions we've gotten from you are part of what feeds into that. There's a lot we're excited to get to, and you'll hear about it once we've locked in what's first!
Thanks
We'd like to thank everyone who tested and shared feedback about the website in our Discord server.
